Jerzy
Stanisław The 1960s at the ZDK (the steelworks' House of Culture) in Kraków - Nowa Huta are inseparably linked with Jan Żabicki, M.A., the head of the ZDK. It was also the time of Ms Maria Kwiecień, the artistic director - always deeply committed and caring towards those with whose help she carried out the whole programme - and of Stanisław Florek, for many years the head of the Nowa Huta Jazz Club, the initiator of many successful ventures on both the music and the cabaret scene, in particular the founding in the 1950s of the first jazz band, the first concert and the Jazz Club in Nowa Huta, and later of the first cabarets, in which he also took part as a performer. I also thank him very much for the series of articles describing the history of culture, cabaret and jazz in Nowa Huta, as well as its bands and various fields of the arts.
