The band Kormorany ("The Cormorants") was formed in the autumn of 1962.
It played in Kraków from 1962 to 1970 in the place popularly known as
GEOLOG, near the then Biprostal on 18 Stycznia Street.
It played at youth dances on Saturdays and Sundays. There were also occasional performances for holidays such as
1 May, Geologist's Day, New Year's Eve, etc.
From 1964 Kormorany were the band
of the SOLWAY works. Rehearsals, dances, concerts, competitions etc. were held there.
For those days the band had pretty good equipment:
three 75 W valve amplifiers, Goodmans speakers obtained from a cinema, and a spring
reverb (Feder Hall). All of it together sounded good for those times.
The band's repertoire was whatever was currently at the "top"
on Radio Luxembourg. Covers of
The Shadows, The Beatles, Presley, Paul Anka, Sedaka, The Rolling Stones, and also a few songs of our own.
All in all people must have liked it, because the turnout was always high, and today everyone remembers those beautiful years..
