Next year e.g.2008 will be 50th Anniversary of
Cliff Richard and
The Shadows
performing together.As
Hank Marvin suggested on British Radio Station
some celebrations and musical events are possible.
In September of 1958
Cliff Richard's manager
John Foster hired two unknown
guitar players from New Castle e.g.
Hank Marvin and
Bruce Welch for the
British Autumn 1958 Cliff's Tour.
Cliff had already recorded " Move It ", which was high on the pop list, so the
tour happened to be big succes. In the 1960 something amazing and big
happened to
The Shadows.
Jerry Lordan, composer and musician himself
gave them strange instrumental tune
" Apache " to record.
It became big hit and since then
The Shadows became very popular
and big stars in the pop music business.
Since then they recorded tens of instrumental hits and tonnes of wonderfull music.
With some breaks their amazing carier lasted to year 2004 when they did
the Last Tour and they said farewell to theirs fans.
In 1985
H.Marvin emigrated to Australia, so the contact with the band was
dramatically reduced.
To keep
The Shads music and memory alive
Bruce Welch organizes every year in Surrey London, England musical
event called Shadowmania, where he plays with his band and
Phill Kelly
as lead guitarist. The rest of exshadows are participating in the event and fans have big fun.
Similar Shadowmanias are organized in Toronto, Canada by the
Toronto
Shadows Club, where
Bruce and some exshadows are coming and the
Canadians fans have big fun too.

In the middle 60-ties in Poland, The
Shads and
Cliff were very popular
and all the Polish guitar bands were playing their music.
Today,Polish baby boomers still love that music, but not much is played
around. So our
Club The IFK gives that opportunity to get back again
to The Shads music and have good time and fun.
